Next Wave Art 2012

Starting in 2001 under the curatorial vision of Dan Cameron, the visual arts became an important part of BAM’s iconic Next Wave Festival, founded in 1983 as an annual series that permanently changed the artistic landscape of the institution and New York, featuring decades of breakout performances and landmark productions. Next Wave Art returned this fall for its 11th season, curated by BAM Visual Art Curator Dave Harper and opening up BAM’s unique exhibition and other public spaces to some of Brooklyn’s most exciting artists. This exhibition will represent a variety of media and many new site-specific works including a floor installation by David Scaninvino in the Leonard Natman Room and two 25-foot murals in the Dorothy W. Levitt Lobby of the BAM Peter Jay Sharp Building by Denise Kupferschmidt.
